“Thunder Road” by Bruce Springsteen (and the “Other” Band) on MTV Unplugged

This song came up as an option at 4:50 as well and it’s such a great song that I couldn’t not post it. And this stripped-down version is outstanding.

You can hide ‘neath your covers
And study your pain
Make crosses from your lovers
Throw roses in the rain
Waste your summer praying in vain
For a saviour to rise from these streets

Bruce Springsteen - 57 Channels (And Nothin’ On)

So I bought a .44 magnum, it was solid steel cast
And in the blessed name of Elvis, well, I just let it blast
’Til my TV lay in pieces there at my feet
And they busted me for disturbin’ the almighty peace
Judge said, “What you got in your defense, son?”
“Fifty-seven channels and nothin’ on”

Little known fact - being from New Jersey means you have to reblog any and all Bruce Springsteen related posts.

Total class.

Last one, I promise! This one is 11 minutes long with a great crowd participation section in the middle.

“Blinded By the Light” by Bruce Springsteen
(Words/Music: Bruce Springsteen, Album: Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J., Columbia 1973)

themesong: misheard lyrics

The first song from the first album by Bruce Springsteen, an album that features Bruce at his most Dylan-esque, lyrically, gives us one of the most commonly misheard lyrics. The line you’re wondering about is actually:

Cut up like a deuce - another runner in the night

but when Manfred Mann’s Earth Band recorded it, they changed it to:

Revved up like a deuce - another runner in the night

And there you have it. You’re welcome.

Fantastic

It’s interesting that I could totally see Bruce doing this song before I pressed play. Seems a perfect fit for him and the band.
