September 18th 1970: Hendrix dies
On this day in 1970, American musician and guitar legend Jimi Hendrix died aged 27. He died in London after a party from what appeared to be an accidental sleeping pill overdose. Hendrix revolutionised guitar playing and was a musical pioneer. ‘Rolling Stone’ have named him the greatest guitarist of all time.
This kind of made me sad because it struck me that, since I was born on November 21, 1970, that I never shared the planet with the amazing human being. On the other hand, maybe I am Jimi reincarnate. Hmm…

Jimi Hendrix Experience, “Like A Rolling Stone,” Bob Dylan cover. Live at Monterey, June 18, 1967.
Hendrix had a special way of interpreting Dylan songs. Either that or Dylan had a special way of writing songs that could be re-interpreted.
Or both.
